Our story

Edumate began four days into the first lockdown.

In March 2020, with schools closed and parents suddenly teaching at the kitchen table, Zuzu, a primary teacher with over twenty years' experience, started making short learning videos and sharing them, free, on Facebook. One became a hundred. They were watched hundreds of thousands of times, with one lesson alone viewed over 170,000 times, by families up and down the country trying to make home learning feel a little less daunting.

When schools reopened, the lockdown videos naturally drew to a close. But Zuzu kept going, filming the odd clip with her own two sons, sharing the small, everyday techniques that make learning at home calm rather than fraught. That is really where Edumate Grow comes from: not a business plan, but a mum and teacher wanting something better for her own boys.

Because here is what Zuzu believes, after all those years in the classroom: little is more, if you do it often enough. The 11+ does not need cramming, pressure or tears. It needs a child who reads, thinks and stays curious, built slowly and gently, a few minutes at a time. So she set out to build the app she wished existed for her sons: calm, unhurried, never addictive, and designed to protect a child's confidence as carefully as it builds their skills.

That is the whole idea behind Edumate, and the reason it works the way it does.
